ZIMBABWE’S FORMER Mines minister Walter Chidhakwa has been arrested. Chidakwa was placed under arrest by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc) yesterday

He is facing allegations of corruption and abuse of office and is the third Mugabe government senior official who has been arrested by the new President Emmerson Mnangagwa government after Mugabe’s cousin former Finance minister Ignatius Chombo and former Mines secretary Francis Gudyanga.

According to Zacc the former mines minister Chidakwa allegedly falsely claimed sitting allowances for parastatal meetings which he never attended. More news to follow. By Sibusiso Ngwenya
